Site
Centrally located: The 7,000 square meter area of the long-distance bus terminal in Zurich is within walking distance of the main train station and opposite the tranquil Platzspitz Park.
Function
The challenge was to design a bus station with mixed-use facilities on the ground floor, seamlessly integrating flexible living spaces above the bus station. The difficulty lay in harmonizing private residences with the open ground floor intended for public use.
Materials
The success of this design hinged significantly on the thoughtful integration of sustainable construction methods and materials. By prioritizing eco-friendly approaches, not only did the project align with contemporary environmental concerns, but it also contributed to the long-term resilience and positive ecological impact of the development.
